Another Beautiful Morning

Written by Kevin No Comments Yet

The weather here in Birmingham has been…unusual. It’s been absolutely beautiful. For a week now it’s been sunny and it’s only gotten cold in the last couple of days. Last week I was playing basketball outside in shorts and a t-shirt. Now I’m freezing, but it’s still beautiful outside. The mornings here are some like you’ve never seen.

This photo is from our bedroom window this morning. What a wonderful sight to wake up to.

Clean Up Selly Oak Day

Written by Kevin No Comments Yet

We all want to be the kind of people who care about others and about community and about the place that we live. That’s why we’ve put together a “Clean Up Selly Oak Day”. On the 23rd of February, we’re getting a bunch of people together and picking a street in Selly Oak. With bins in hand, we’re going to clean up said street and then return to our place for a great lunch. The greatest part? You can do this with us.

Here are the details in list form (don’t worry, I’m a list guy too):

  • What: Clean Up Selly Oak Day (this month’s street to be determined)
  • When: Meet at our place at 9:30am on Saturday, 23 Feb. (above the Royal Orchid on Bristol Road, close to the south gate - here’s a map) We’ll come back to our place for lunch after we’re done. All told, it just a couple of hours.

We hope you can make it! Get in touch if you have any questions or want more info (0798 293 6785 or info@canvashouse.org).

First Look: Canvas House

Written by Kevin 6 Comments So Far

Since we’ve gotten into our first ministry house (Canvas House), we’ve been striving to make it feel more and more like a place that people would actually want to be. Take a look:

We want this to be a house that is welcoming to students. A house that is flexible enough to include small groups and open mic nights. A place that is open most all of the time for students to drop in whenever they want. This is what the Canvas House is becoming!
