A Weekend of Firsts
Last weekend was a great weekend, full of firsts and new experiences. We were invited to join with the Great Britain Field Team for a retreat to Centre Park - Sherwood Forest, Nottingham.
The first first from the weekend…We were feeling adventurous. We rented a car and took off for a road trip, just the three of us (Nathan, Leah and me). We requested a nice, small Ford Focus and instead got a complimentary car upgrade, a larger Vauxhaul Vectra Elite. Great car. Leather seats, built in Sat nav, power everything. We were only the second people to have ever hired this car. It was brand new and all of these factors led to a slightly stressful start to my driving experience in England. Nevertheless, we made it safely there and back, about a four hour trip total and I now feel much more confident on the left-side of the English roads.
The retreat itself was fun as we were able to get to know many we didn’t have chances with before. We got our bowling in, our movie time in and some team stuff in as well. It was time well spent and we were all so glad that we got to share it together.
Another first from the weekend…If you follow our blog, you know I’ve been striving to get to the 5k running mark. Aaron, who is a part of the Great Britain Field Team is an avid runner and agreed to take a run with me on Saturday morning through Sherwood Forest. Drum roll. We ran 33 minutes together and what’s more, I could have kept going! We chatted the whole time, enjoyed the outdoors and I accomplished my goal! I was thrilled. Thanks, Aaron for your help in getting over that 28 minute barrier! Here’s to strong running and fitness in the future!
