Redbrick, student newspaper since 1936.
Redbrick has been the University of Birmingham’s student newspaper since 1936. That is quite a long-standing tradition of student journalism and that’s one of the reasons we were honored to be mentioned in the most recent edition of the publication.
At Canvas, we really strive to be great members of the community, contributing to making it a better place wherever we can. It’s a large part of what makes us – us.
Redbrick regularly contains a section where contributors list what’s fierce (good) and what’s finished (bad). We’re proud to say that Canvas is now officially fierce. Here’s what was written about us:
“Canvas House – Good Samaritans don’t come any better than the saintly souls at 29 Tiverton Road. They clean up Selly Oak, provide a chill out zone for students, oh, and give out more free food than you can shake a stick at.”

I don’t know about “saintly,” but of the rest of the remark, I’d say that’s a pretty great way to be known throughout the student community. We’ll keep doing our best to make Selly Oak a great place for students while they’re going through their university career.
