Canvas is our attempt at demonstrating a loving community to the university students we come into contact with. Canvas is pointing people to the Jesus that cared about them before they knew him. Canvas is community, deep relationship, connection, graceful, and challenging. It’s skiing, BBQs in the park, surfing, poker, movie nights, curry nights, Bible studies, open-mic nights, basketball in the park, trips to the cinema, small groups, living life together.
Canvas is about engaging with others at a heart-deep, real life level. Canvas is about allowing the Jesus that is in us to shine out through our lives to show the students around us that we really and truly care about them, that they have value, that they are important and that their lives are meaningful.
The short of it is: Canvas is a Christian campus ministry for university students at the University of Birmingham in England. It was founded in 2007 in partnership with Christian Missionary Fellowship (more), who has been dreaming and planning for many, many years. But Canvas is so much more than a generic description. It’s life-changing. And it’s hard to describe something that significant.
Canvas is making a huge difference in the university community and the surrounding local community with great success and we could use your help to keep it going. Click here to find out how you can make a difference in this part of the world.
