Oceans In Between Us
In March we had a party. A big, British party. Everyone was to dress as their favorite British character (Leah went as Mary Poppins). It was a sight to see, in fact, click here to see some pictures of the night. On that night, one of our friends, Chris, broke out a new and original tune that he had written for Patrick, Josh, Rachel, Aubri and the rest of the Canvas Team. I wanted to share that song with you. Here are the lyrics, have a listen below:
knowing that it had to end
made it all slip by so fast
appreciate these seasons
that are never meant to lastfor movie nights and always
giving me some place to go
from easterto the time we climbed
the mountain in the snow
from jamming in my front room
singing to me about cain
to running round like idiots
on the courts in pouring raini only hope you know that i’m sincere
you’ll always have a home here
even when you go
oceans in between us don’t mean a thingfor every open door
and seat on frederick’s floor
nights in the cafe room
i’m sure they made sense somehow
for every time that i
just couldn’t say goodbye
and stayed ’til four a.m.
you can go to sleep now
rest your weary head
because what more can be said?
a simple “thank you” wouldn’t be enough
things won’t be the same once you’ve gone awayi only hope you know that i’m sincere
you’ll always have a home here
even when you go
oceans in between us don’t mean a thing

Rachel. Tom. Matt. Transatlantic. This trio creates a fantastic and deep musical quality. In her time with Canvas, Rachel, one of our exchange students, has teamed up with Matt and Tom and has created something great. Have a listen to one of the great Transatlantic tracks:
