Why England
In his book Imagine: How to Reach the UK, Mark Greene has said:
In much of the developing world, Christianity is flourishing. In the UK, it is withering. Today, only around 7.5% of British people go to church once a month or more. That’s down from 9.5% in 1990 and 10.9% in 1980. This may be bad news for the Church, but if is a tragedy for the people who don’t know Jesus. The key issue is not the survival of an historic institution, but the eternal destiny and present well-being of 59 million people. Can we make a difference?
Now, let’s get personal. We love these people who are cautious in their relationships and we are interested to get heart-deep into life with them. Why England? We see the need and feel that we have something to offer.
In this case, Leah and I felt an urge to be here, in this place, at this time and, however it happened, it perfectly aligned with some strategic goals that CMF had for their Globalscope program. The two aligned very nicely…some would say supernaturally.
However, it’s important to keep in mind that you can reach out in these ways in any place that you find yourself. Work. Coffee shops. America. Britain. We just happen to find ourselves in England. Where do you find yourself?
